Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has aggressive plans to develop sustainable energy solutions, including increasing production of biofuels, wind, solar and hydropower, ultimately achieving energy independence from foreign oil. This cutting-edge initiative has already released over $10 million dollars into the state's economy and is expected to create 30-40,000 new jobs for Kentuckians. Along with our maverick approach to energy independence, Kentucky is intent on protecting our valuable resources - the environment. Our statewide goal of a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2025 is reinforced by government policy. In fact, Kentucky was the first state to combine departments dealing with energy and the environment.
